Further gearing up for fall

With fall just a few short weeks away, I am already preparing space in my fridge for the new releases. To further help those out in beer land get ready, heres a review to get your taste buds and your body salivating for cold weather.

Brewery: Oskar Blues Grill and Brewery
Beer: Old Chub
Style: Scottish(Scotch?) ale
ABV: 8%
Rating out of 5: 4.10
Reviewed on: 09-08-2008

Appearance: Dark opaque brown color. There are ruby hues when held up to the light. A light tan head quickly drops to a ring. There’s some lacing.

Smell: Plenty of dark malt in the aroma. Chocolate, and earthy roastiness/nuttiness vie for domination. A fair bit of coffee present as well.

Taste: Malt and plenty of it. Plenty of unsweetened chocolate, coffee, and roast flavors. Caramel flavors abound as well. There is a touch of smokiness in the finish.

Mouthfeel: Full-bodied and chewy on the palate.

This is solid Scotch ale. A wonderful cool weather sipper. Can’t wait till the temps. drop so I can enjoy brews like this at their fullest.

Serving type: bottle
